ABOUT - NEW
Amy grew up in the Seattle area, visiting her extended family in Oregon often. She was lucky enough to know four great grandparents and a great-great grandmother, who lived to 102. Early on, she loved learning the stories of different people and understood the idea of accountability to those in her life. She also worried that there was a possibility of being on this planet for a while and thought she should probably do something with her life.
In high school, Amy traveled overseas for the first time. She was taken by the idea of driving only a few hours to arrive in a completely different culture & history. She remembers sitting on the tour bus and thinking, "What could I do that would pay me to travel?" Upon looking down at the camera in her hand, she thought, "hmmmm?"
With that, Amy shifted her attention towards finding a college where she could "study photography." She has worked in the commercial photography industry since completing her MFA at Columbia College.
Amy never pursued travel photography. Instead she understood that photography on its own is a journey... bringing with it an introduction to many people; offering a different experience each day and taking her to numerous places, whether real or imagined.
